Fine George III fiddleback mahogany cabinet on chest of unusually small size, the top with a moulded edge with �dog tooth� inlaid border above a single tulip and kingwood banded door with an elegant pleated silk oval panel, the door opening to reveal an interior fitted with 17 drawers and a cupboard, the base with two short and two long drawers, on splayed bracket feet.

Although unusual to find examples of this type of fitted cabinet being made with a chest of drawers base, the design books of both Sheraton and Hepplewhite include various oval panelled cabinets on stands and side tables, some with drawers, but all raised on tapering legs.
