Regency Rosewood and Satinwood Lady’s Secretaire Display Cabinet


An unusual Regency rosewood and satinwood Lady’s Secretaire display cabinet, standing on turned and cross banded legs which also are carved and inlaid. The stiles having small fielded satinwood panels on either side of two drawers. The top one being fitted as a secretaire writing drawer with baized writing surface and six cedar lined interior drawers with ivory handles.

The secretaire surmounted by a breakfront cabinet with central arched glazed display door, with recessed cupboards to either side above which are ormolu lattice grilled display compartments with pillard terminals. The top of the cabinet being fitted with a hand cut ormolu gallery.

The cabinet veneered in rosewood, mahogany and satinwood with tulipwood cross banding strung with boxwood and ebony in a somewhat eccentric and unusual pattern at the angles. The entire cabinet is in a very fine state of originality and of neat and compact dimensions.
