LEATHER WRITING BOX BY LEUCHARS

An immaculate leather writing box complete with its original leather outer carrying case, the gilt tooled case has a recessed brass handle to the top, under which are the initial M.H. which we understand are for Mary Hutton, the top opens to reveal a pull down stationary compartment and spaces for a ruler, dip pen and pencil, penknife and a page turner, in the lid, whilst the box has an inkwell and matches box, pen tray, and three porcelain writing tablets, this section is also stamped with makers name, Leuchars & Son, makers 38 & 39 Piccadilly, London, this section folds over to reveal the writing surface with compartments underneath, there is a bramah lock with its original key, this is by far the best example of this style of box that we have ever seen.
