A very large antique oak decanter box of the highest quality. This exceptional box has been made using the finest oak, which has achieved a lovely patina over the last 150 years. The exterior of the box has two bands of ebonised wood to the top and base and the top of the box has an inlaid brass plaque which shows the family crest of a dogs head. Unfortunately, this crest has been used by a large number of families over time and without any initials, I have been unable to tie this down to a specific family.
Opening the top of the box and both the two swing doors, reveals a coromandel lined interior with the original blue velvet covering. There are four very large hobnail cut square decanters in the back section and twelve shot glasses, each held in their individual containers.
The box has a small plaque at the back saying, Pearce & Co, Huddersfield & Leeds, a firm of high quality jewellers.
The lock plate is stamped T Turner & Co London Patent Lever.

I had the pleasure in owning this box in 2002 for a very short while, as it was sold very quickly. Since selling it the first time and today, I cannot recall seeing a decanter box of these dimensions and I now have the pleasure in offering it again.
