A rare Derby figural group depicting the subject often known as Isabella, Gallant and Jester. It shows a couple surprised by a servant while canoodling in a flowery bower. The servant tips cups of tea into their laps. Derby modellers copied an original model by J J Kaendler for the Meissen factory at Dresden. The subject is thought to derive from the knockabout performances of Commedia dell?Arte troupes.
