Ronald Cameron was a Londoner of Scots extraction. He studied under the Renowned Dr Karel Vogel at the Camberwell Art College and graduated in 1951 with a diploma in Sculpture. During his long and successful professional career he worked in many fields of sculptural art, producing sculpture commissions from life size bronzes to miniatures in gold and silver.
He concentrated his talents on the classical theme of the female nude figure, he presented this traditional subject on a modern manner designed to portray the poise and confidence on the dynamic young woman of today. He has an established international reputation, and his sculptures are widely collected. Many galleries here and abroad carry a selection of his work. He exhibited in the former Alwin Gallery and Bruton Street Gallery in London along side other major sculptures such as Henry Moore and Elizabeth Frink, Lynn Chadwick, Michael Ayrton and Barbara Hepworth. Also in the Whitford Fine Art Gallery, in Knokke-Heist, Belgium.
Other exhibitions and commissions included: Three relief figures for the Athens Olympics, Giant Panda collection for the Chapman brothers in ‘Holocaust’ A nude figure which won the sculpture prize in 2002, Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, An over life size bust of the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Woolf for the National Portrait Gallery.
